WOCT Grants
The Purpose
The World Orchid Conference Trust has funding that enables it to offer a number of grants to assist those engaged in orchid-related projects. These grants will help further the Trust's work and advance Orchid science and horticulture.
The trustees are looking to support innovative, achievable projects related to orchids that will leave a lasting legacy. Meritorious projects that have an impact and provide good value for money are most likely to receive grant support.
The funding aims to encourage contributions that will enhance the success of any given World Orchid Conference.
Grant recipients will be expected to present a paper, poster, or display at the World Orchid Conference to which the application applies.
Funding may include assistance with meeting the cost of:
· Travel, which may consist of seeing plants in their native habitat, visits to gardens, plant nurseries & horticultural institutions
· Placements (short term or spread over a more extended period) in leading botanic & historic gardens
· Conference attendance & participation
· Scientific research
· Cost of materials and items associated with mounting an exhibit
Eligibility
Applications will be welcomed from any individual, institution, or society engaged in a project meeting the above criteria.
Please note that no Trustee, Fellow, Member of a WOCT Committee, or any other person associated with running the Trust will be eligible for WOCT Bursary Funding.
Amounts Awarded
Grants vary in amount, depending upon the project's needs and nature, and the potential for securing additional funds from other sources. The maximum funding for any single award will be US$2,000, and the number of grants will be limited to the Trust’s budget for that WOC.
