World Orchid Conferences have been held every three years since 1954.

Conferences provide an opportunity to bring the global orchid community together. The orchid show includes displays from countries around the world and is enjoyed by both attendees and host city residents. Part of the Conference is a scientific lecture program, together with a social program including tours of the surrounding area.

The 21st World Orchid Conference took place in Johannesburg in September 2014. A photographic record has now been added to the WOC Galleries .

At the conclusion of a highly successful event the Trustees confirmed:

The 22nd WOC will take place in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2017.

A Taiwanese bid to host the 23rd WOC in 2020 has been provisionally selected from the 5 applications submitted for the event
